The best home brewer in the world

Many renowned coffee experts consider the Technivorm Moccamaster line of coffee brewers to simply be the best available. Here's why:

Heat

Heats water to the proper temperature of 92 – 94 degrees Celsius (198 - 204 ˚F) and keeps it consistent through the whole brew cycle, ensuring proper flavour extraction from coffee grounds.

Speed

The Technivorm's brew cycle finishes in about six minutes. That's much shorter than other brewers, and better for your coffee.

Not Made in China

Quality of build is extremely important when it comes to coffee brewers. Each unit is hand-built and tested by ethically treated, well paid and knowledgeable people in The Netherlands (not China), meeting the very highest quality standards. They are imported directly by Transcend Coffee, and personally inspected by our staff before we ship them to you. These machines are incredibly solid, well put-together, and and easy to use. They will last for years and years to come. In fact, some European customers are still using the Technivorm brewer they purchased over 20 years ago!

This brewer is exactly the same as the Technivorm Moccamaster KBT 741 expect for the design of the brew tower and the height of the brewer (this one is 0.5 inches taller).

This item qualifies for free shipping anywhere in Canada.

The new brew-thru lid is now included with this brewer.

Media Endorsements

The Technivorm Moccamaster CD Thermal meets the very strict requirements of both the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) for coffee brewing quality. This is something very few coffee makers can claim.

  1. It Always Pays To Go First Class

Posted by Dinesh on 22nd May 2010

    Model: Technivorm Moccamaster CDT
Date of Purchase: Christmas December 2009

I was initially hesitant to purchase this coffee maker primarily due to the price. However, after exhaustively researching the Technivorm and after visiting my local coffee specialist in Toronto, I decided to take plunge and purchase it.

    Impressions:

    * I bought the CDT (Clement Design) model. I thought the CDT has an elegant and simple design. It is definitely a favourite topic of discussion when I have guests over.

    * The parts are easy to assemble. Very pleased with the long electrical cord, especially in my kitchen where space is at a premium.

    * The process of brewing coffee is very hands on which is something that I like to do. I am able to control to the drip rate and have access to the filter basket during the brew process. The added functionality allows me to fully saturate the coffee grinds and stir the slurry.

    * I would highly recommend purchasing the Swiss Gold Filter, instead using paper filters. The Gold filter is reusable and allows more oils and minor sediment in the coffee, similar to a French press. I believe the coffee just tastes better with it.

    * The brew time is fast and always the water is extremely hot. A note of caution, do not touch the spray arm during brew process.

    Conclusion:

After years of purchasing various coffee makers and contraptions, I can finally say with no regrets, that I have found the coffee maker for me. I absolutely love the coffee that I brew at home. The coffee that is extracted by the CDT is always flavourful and fully bodied. No longer do I even purchase or crave the coffee from local cafes or national chains. If you are like me and cost is holding you back from purchasing the Technivorm, trust me when I say it is well worth the cost. In case of the Technivorm, it always pays to goes first class, it maybe one of finest additions to your kitchen that you will ever make. I now cannot imagine my life without it.

  2. Great purchase and even better service

Posted by Gabe on 7th May 2010

I've had this unit for about a year now, maybe more (my notion of time isn't that great).

Chose this after seeing many reviews online that said this produced the right temperature for great coffee. And the lack of hot plate was a plus of course.

My verdict after all this time? It does what it claims to do: produce great results. Not only that, but it looks insanely cool doing it. Is it worth the price? Yes, the build quality is a testament to that. But should you buy it?

Honestly, you can get coffee to taste just as good or better using other much cheaper methods. But if you want a whole carafe of coffee done right at the start of the day (when you're far too sleepy to deal with the quirks of espresso), this won't disappoint.

Now, the merits of this unit are not questioned. If you can afford this, it rocks. But I'd like to say a word about the service of transcend. My carafe stopped keeping the coffee warm after a few months. Transcend promptly mailed me a new one with all the necessary papers to ship back the broken one. ZERO TROUBLE for me. That is important.

    Very satisfied.

  3. Best tasting brew we've had at home

Posted by Alison on 6th May 2010

We purchased our Moccamaster in store last fall, and have been very pleased with the purchase. A few test batches let us find the perfect combination of grind, beans and water, and now the morning ritual wouldn't be complete without it. The heat and timing are as good as it gets, and even without pre-heating the carafe keeps the coffee hot long enough for everyone to get their cup. With a quick pre-heat, it's perfect. My husband is more of a "push a button and forget it" kind of guy, so was initially leaning towards some sort of grind-and-brew machine, but even he agrees this produces a much tastier brew. We use the swiss gold filter with it, which probably helps. Highly recommended.

  4. Fantastic but a little finicky

Posted by dria on 3rd May 2010

We ordered a Technivorm from Transcend a few weeks ago (delivered promptly, no problems at all), and have been using it daily ever since. It's a great machine, but can be a little finicky (as these things tend to be sometimes). It is not a "set and forget" sort of coffee maker -- getting the right brew can involve some babysitting, fiddling about with stirring the grounds, adjusting the flow from the filter (from none to half to full), and so forth. As long as you pre-warm the carafe the result is absolutely worth it -- fantastic, hot coffee that (amazingly) stays hot for a couple of hours. Paired with Transcend's (frankly fantastic) beans, it's the best home-brew drip coffee we've ever had.

If you love coffee and don't mind futzing about to make sure it turns out ok, the Technivorm is a great machine. We're absolutely happy with ours.

  5. Consistently GREAT

Posted by cHAd on 3rd May 2010

The "Tech" is hands down the best home brewer on the market. Hand made with pride in the Netherlands. The care and attention that is put into the manufacturing of the brewer comes out in every cup of coffee, and in about 6 minutes per pot! I lived with a "big box" brewer for many years and there really is a difference in the product that you consume in the end. Really why else would Technivorm get the support of European Coffee Brewing Centre and the Specialty Coffee Association of America and Europe. Treat yourself to a Cafe' quality pot in your own home.
