Story
We love this coffee. It was grown by our friend Tim O'Brien, who owns a farm in the Tarrazù region of Costa Rica. Tim first moved to Costa Rica in the mid 90's to work with the Peace Corp and was sent into the remote part of Tarrazu to help farmers develop better agriculture practices. He found himself in San Martín which is a small village at the end of a dirt road not located on any official map. It is situated on a high mountain ridge in the famed Tarrazù coffee-growing region of Costa Rica. He later returned to Costa Rica in 2003 with his family and ended up buying a farm in the region where he was first stationed. Cafetín in not a large commercial grower, but a group of 25 small family farms. Cafetín's mission is to focus on generating better coffee and better incomes for the producers and their families, and their attention to detail results in some of the tastiest coffee we have ever had.
This coffee is high-grown (1850 meters above sea level) which accounts for its rich and complex characteristics. It was specially picked for Transcend Coffee, and we roast it very carefully in small batches, to coax from it all of its potential, to ensure that all of Tim and friends' hard work and attention shine through in the cup.
