Brazilian Coffee

Brazil is the world’s largest producer of coffee. In 2007, 2.25 million metric tons of coffee was produced. That’s a lot of Brazilian coffee beans. Coffee production in Brazil is treated much like large-scale agriculture is here in Canada. Vast flat fields, huge mechanical harvesters and large warehouses dominate the Brazilian coffee industry.
We however look to find and partner with smaller, quality-minded Brazilian coffee farmers. Those who still harvest by hand when possible, plant and harvest at higher elevations, and take the time to meticulously sort each microlot for ideal ripeness and to eliminate defects.
Brazilian coffee beans that are grown at higher altitudes typically display mild to medium acidity and have sweet clean roasted nut flavours, notes of dark chocolate and hints of berry or citrus.
